Newest Indulgence

I have a new love. Our neighbors brought us dinner Friday night and I've been a mess ever since. Pretzel Salad, you guys! Heard of it? Here's the info so you can see why I cant pass the fridge without "just one more bite"!

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups crushed pretzels
4 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
3/4 cup butter, melted
1 cup white sugar
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 (6 ounce) package strawberry flavored gelatin
2 cups boiling water
1 (16 ounce) package frozen strawberries

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Mix together the pretzels, 4 1/2 tablespoons sugar and melted butter. Press into the bottom of a 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 10 minutes, or lightly toasted. Set aside to cool completely.
In a medium bowl, beat the sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Fold in whipped topping. Spread evenly over the cooled crust. Refrigerate until set, about 30 minutes.
In a medium bowl, stir together the gelatin mix and boiling water. Mix in frozen strawberries, and stir until thawed. Pour over cream cheese mixture in pan. Refrigerate until completely chilled, at least 1 hour.

Oh my gosh, Jill. My mother-in-law makes this and it's heaven. It's hard to describe its deliciousness to people, though. It must be hard to live the life of a pretzel jell-o salad. I've been thinking about it for months now. I guess I'll have to attempt it myself.

We've decided its the sweet/ salty combo plus the crunchy addition to jello... Oh man, its heaven! I have to say that I should have eaten it all the first day cuz now that the pretzels are soft, it's not as good. There's something about that crunch!

yeah... I'm going to go ahead and have to make an official request at this time and if you could go ahead and make a tub of this for the BBQ on Sat., ... that would be great.
