I know it's been ages...

Our camera wont upload to the computer for some reason.
That alone, is enough to make me not want to post! But in the interest of the blog book I will someday print for posterity, I begin my update.

Today is our first official day of potty training with Jace. He's had a few funny "hide & poops" this week so I figure we'd better at least try. I would LOVE to have him out of diapers before his nameless baby brother arrives in less than 6 weeks. We are armed with cool undies and M&Ms. So far, so good!

This spring is such a busy time for our family. I'm working 4 nighs a week, Brad is working on his MBA 2 nights a week, Cohen turns 5 just after Valentines Day, the baby comes at the first of March, our 6 year anniversary is March 26th, and then Jace's birthday is in April after Easter. I feel like I need to plan ahead for all of those things or they'll get totally ignored once the baby is here. I already booked Cohen's birthday party at Golfland. He is inviting all cousins. They are his besties. I love it. And I found this that I would love to get for our anniversary. I have a thing for trees and I just think it's such a darling print to hang in our bedroom. I cant really buy it for Brad cuz he probably wont care about it. So am I allowed to buy myself an anniversary gift? That seems funny.

I mentioned our nameless baby. It's stressing me out to not have a name. Everyone has been emailing and texting suggestions to no avail. Brad likes Reed. I tried but it doesn't fit. I like Leo. He says he's trying but cant make himself love it. He likes Grayson but wants to call him Gray. I dont want to call anyone Gray. Plus, when I'm yelling it to my boys in the backyard, they wont know if I'm saying Gray or Jace. Too similar. I recently really started liking Ryan. I think it fits our family. It's a real name, not made up, not trendy. That's what I like. Brad is neutral to it. Cohen is positive our baby's name is Jaxon. Neither Brad nor I are down with that. Cohen's second choice is Leo. So that's two votes for Leo! (My grandma Udall's name is Leona. So Leo is kind of after her but I also just picture this darling little blond haired boy named Leo and think it's so cute!)

Anyway- back to reality. Jace is napping without a diaper and sure to wake up wet any moment. I guess I'll clean my kitchen till then.... or maybe not. We'll see.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Jaxson ;)

I'm loving Reed and Leo - not loving Grayson or Gray. I love that Leo is after your Grandma. FYI - there were like 4 Ryan's and 5 Jennifer's in my gradeschool class. Did you want my opinion? :o) Ha ha. Whatever you pick, it will fit, so it doesn't really even matter what I think, huh?!?!

I do love the name Ryan. We actually wanted to maybe use taht for a girl, but then my cousin got mad at me and said I couldn't :) so we wont. Love it though. It's solid. Elise named her boy Grey, but yea it's too close to Jace. And actually I like both Leo and Reed except I would spell it Reid. Not that that's worth anything. We actually thought about Leo when we were thinking names for Jack. Leo is Mikes grandpa. All good names, can't go wrong with any of them. Except Grey. I do like Grayson if you always call him grayson. and that's more than you cared to hear. But i'm glad you updated your blgo

I know lots of Ryan's that are over 20, just none in this new generation really. That's what's appealing. And funny enough, I like Reid better than Reed too. But Brad doesn't. Just like I said maybe to Grayson if we dont shorten it to Gray. Again, Brad disagrees. He likes Gray.

wes is a normal name that not a lot of people have. it could be wes, weston, wesley.

If you name him Grayson it WILL get shortened by someone, and you will probably end up calling him Gray, too! It always happens!
Don't stress; we didn't have any names Robert and I both liked for Vincent, and it was the nurse who said as soon as he came out, "What are you going to name him, Vincent?" We've always just felt like we would would know who they were when we held our babies for the first time.... although it was a little stressful waiting to go home until we completed the paperwork because we felt a little silly naming our boy from the nurse's suggestion!
Great to hear your update. I have a similar list for the kids and home projects to complete before the big day.... unfortunately, I've made very little progress on any of them!
Good luck in the coming weeks!

i like leo. not that my opinion matters. i also like that tree print. i've seen paintings just like that and have already considered making one for mike for our upcoming anniversary. but it would totally be for me, not him. :) i might do it anyway.

Love Leo! Especially that it's the male version of a family member female you love.

Also, if you email me your address and tell me the size you want that print, I will paint it for you at no charge and ship it as a gift. Please let me! (Find a cheap frame from D.I or something, paint it if desired (any size) and I'll make it to fit...just let me know what you want.)

I can't believe you only have 6 weeks left! I like Leo too! Good luck with the potty training! I had good results with the bribery method for Charlie- we went to the store and he picked out a toy. The toy went on the top shelf until he went potty for the first time. (which happened amazingly quickly!) then I bought a package of 10 hotwheel cars and he got one each time he went, and after that he just got it.

Loved this post. I feel you on the name thing. It came down to the wire with us too and to tell you the truth.... Miles won by default. But I like it. I love Leo and I love that it has family meaning. Those are the best. So I have a small twist on the name Gray. How about Grayer? Or Grier (like the town in Az?) I heard that name in a movie, I think The Nanny Diaries with Scarlette Johansen and I loved it. It's hard but you guys will figure it out I'm sure. Good luck with the potty training and with the next few months.

There's a kid in our ward named Noble. I thought that was kind of cool. When we had Blake we couldn't decide and actually heard the name on tv while I was in the delivery room. But we waited until a week after we were home before we submitted the birth certificate for Blake Spencer. Don't sweat it. The name will come. :)

Why is it so hard to name a baby? I feel like I hunt for a name for the whole 9 months. I have a long list that I like for girls but heck if I can think of one for a boy. May your potty training experience be quick and painless (even though I know it won't be.)
