At the prompting of my distant friend Jourdan, I want to learn to knit/crochet this year. I need to start by finding out the difference between the two because I'm not even really sure which it is that I want to learn! I want to be able to make things like:

All of these patterns say easy or very easy on them. I can do that, right? Who wants to be my tutor?

I have a hard time knitting - to much coordination. I can teach you how to crochet though.

But what's the difference? Which do I need to know to make these things?

knowing very minimal about the 2 - it looks to me like you want to know how to knit. I think knitting gets you those fancier patterns (like in that blanket). All I really know: knitting-2 needles / crocheting-1 needle.

I prefer Crocheting because it is easier, at least it looks like it, I've never knitted so I can't say for sure. If you want to do baby hats that is my specialty. I have a pattern that I have made for newborn hats. The outfits that you show are definately knitting.

i hear knitting takes longer and is harder than crocheting, but i learned how to knit on my first bout of bed rest in utah and made all my christmas presents. knitting holds a special place in my heart.

Okay Jill, I have been dying to learn how to knit. I got some books, some kits and I'm still clueless. If you learn or when you learn I want to be there with you. It would be so fun. Keep me updated on this, I'm so serious.

All of these items are adorable and I wish I could help you out but I can't. I recently decided I wanted to do something similar but I decided to start at the remedial level. That's why I got some Knifty Knitter looms by Provo Craft. I've only made hats so far but I'm going to start on scarves next. Good luck!!!!

so we'll be on the journey together!

And what's up with being distant friends?! We hung out like 6 years ago, remember? I have the pictures to prove it!

I'm going for the knitting look, but Good Luck either way!

I meant "distant" geographically, not emotionally! :)

Wow. All you crafties amaze me! I hope you do learn to crochet. Then you and Stephanie can pass along the wisdom and teach me: )

You go girl!!! Knitting is definitely a little trickier than crocheting but I know what ever you do, it will be great. Have fun!
