Brad and I just spent 20 hours away from reality.

Due to the crazy weather, we changed our plan to go to a cabin in Christopher Creek and instead spent our gas money to stay at a hotel in Phoenix. We rented Four Christmases (which is pretty funny, by the way) and watched it in bed on the laptop. Brad fell asleep, I watched a little What Not to Wear and then we snoozed until after 7:30 this morning! It was so dreamy. We spent the morning reading in bed before sneaking Chipotle in to Harkins to see Avatar in 3D. It was Brad's second time. It's no secret that I dont like going to the movies. I rarely like a movie enough to be ok with the money and time spent just sitting there in a dark movie theater. I'd so much rather Red Box so I can fast forward or pause and not feel bad about the wasted $1.08. Having said all of that, Avatar was a big risk for me. I actually thought about bringing my new book (The Hunger Games) in just in case, but I decided I'd just take a nap when it got boring.
I loved it.
That's right. LOVED it. I was entertained the whole time. I'm usually so critical of the special effects, story lines and acting in movies but this was really well done. I'm glad I saw it on the big screen and I liked the 3D. (And so just like that, I have turned into a movie critic, apparently!)

Thanks to Emily and both Grandmas for keeping our boys while we unwound. We'll call you for Round 2 in March!

i dream of doing something like this all of the time. for our anniversary we went to a resort (we had to sit in on a little deal about time shares- we are cheap) but then we asked my mom to drop the kids off at the hotel because they had a cool pool. then... i sort of thought of our house hunting trip to lakeside as a get a way...but wait..we were house hunting and we had a 2 month old with us. i really have to do it right next time. i'm looking forward to it. maybe for our anniversary.

Oh so fun! I am the same way about movies. Just too expensive and I'd much rather be cozy and cuddling on the couch, but EVERYONE is saying that you have to see Avatar on the big screen so maybe I'll have to take the plunge....

I am on a wait list at the library for "Hunger Games"....is it good? I want to read the sequel too..."Catching Fire". I'm always nervous to read a book I know so little about...they always throw in such garbage. Loved Avatar too.

Hungar Games is unexpectedly good... but I'm only 5 chapters in.

Sounds fun. Loved the hunger games. The sequel Catching fire is great too. But it's a trilogy and the third one isn't out yet so I need to find a new book to read.
