'Big Love' is Big Crap

Have you heard of HBO's television show, Big Love? It came out a couple of years ago, and is about polygamous families. When it first came out, the church came out with a strong statement against Big Love and Polygamy. You can see the statement here:

However, as if the polygamy storyline weren't bad enough, HBO has taken their unscrupulousness to new heights. On Sunday, March 15, 2009, HBO will be airing an episode of their Big Love series titled Goin' to the Chapel. In this episode, they will be showing individuals dressed in full temple clothing (you can see the picture right in the TV guide right now).

WE CANNOT SIT IDLE AND LET THIS HAPPEN.
THIS IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES THAT WE HAVE TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!

This is directly from the TV Guide:
Big Love Sunday, 9/8c, HBO
GOIN’ TO THE CHAPEL
"It’s one thing for Bill and Barb Henrickson’s inner circle to know they have two other wives at home…but letting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in on the secret? That’s a whole other story. “It’s almost a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy,” says executive producer Mark Olsen. Their under-the-radar status will change this week when Barb (Jeanne Tripplehorn) faces the consequences of breaking the rules and is called to an xcommunication hearing. “We researched it out the wazoo,” says Olsen, who along with executive producer Will Scheffer hired an ex-Mormon consultant to help the set and wardrobe designers re-create even the tiniest details. “We go into the endowment room and the celestial room [areas of the temple], and we present what happens in those ceremonies. That’s never been shown on television before,” says Olsen. Adds Scheffer, “But it’s not for shock value. It’s really a very important part of the story.” The decision won’t be without controversy: According to a church insider, “If they are in fact trying to emulate those rooms in any way, that would be extremely offensive. The general public is not allowed in our temples yet. Not even all Mormons are. We consider them very, very sacred.” Heaven help us. —Rochell D. Thomas"

Please use your voice to encourage HBO not to air such an offensive show! You can go to the link below to submit a comment to HBO.

But the most effective thing is to call them at (212) 512-1208. They are open 9-5 EST.

It's also interesting to read the LDS church's official statement on the matter. They are so calm and wise on matters such as these! They basically tell us that it's ok for us to fight this and voice our opinions but we, as a church, will be ok either way. Go ahead, read it. And then call HBO.

Did you know that Tom Hanks is the executive producer of that show? Forest Gump, you disappoint me! The whole thing just makes me sad!

I've gotten 2 e-mails about this today and was wondering what the best thing would be to do. I have done nothing yet. Then I got 2 more e-mails(from the same people) with the latest from the Newsroom on The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saint's website. Here is the address: http://newsroom.lds.org/ldsnewsroom/eng/commentary/the-publicity-dilemma
It would be cool to post this on your blog with this info.
I cannot create a link in the comments but you can just copy and paste.

Oh and we totally did the Rodeo this weekend. Maes decided not to chase chickens, but they both rode ponies and held baby animals and we ate good food and the kids had cotton candy. We will do it EVERY YEAR from now on.
